About Cecilia

I moved to Davis in 1990 to attend the University. I chose to come here because of my college education, but found so much more. I found my passion for education and public service, a diverse and flourishing community, and my husband. After graduating from UC Davis, I was accepted into the Coro Fellowship in Public Affairs program in St. Louis where some of my work was with late Governor Mel Carnahan on bills such as his landmark Children’s Health Bill.

I returned to Davis where my husband and I decided to start our family. We have lived in South Davis for over a decade and have raised our three children here, all of whom attend or graduated from Davis public schools. As a mother of DJUSD students, I understand the problems our schools face. I am committed to this community; my youngest is still in elementary school and I plan to have him graduate from one of our high schools.

I have spent the majority of my career working in Labor and Employee Relations as a Specialist and Advisor; I understand the nuances of finances such as contracts, benefits, and retirement. We need someone who can advocate for our teachers and students, while being responsible with our funding. My experience makes me uniquely qualified to tackle the problems we face. I will work diligently for our students, our teachers, and our community.
